Pastrami Sandwich With Melted Mascarpone/Valdeon Cheese Melt

We’ve found lately that mascarpone cheese is excellent for making all sorts of delicious mixes. Mascarpone pesto for example we used on a turkey sandwich a few weeks ago. This time we are taking it a notch up, and are making a mascarpone melt with Spanish valdeon cheese and black sesame seeds plus roasted garlic. We use this as a spread for the bread and a topping for the pastrami after melting it in the microwave. Great food !

Blue Cheese Melt Recipe

  • 2 tsp mascarpone cheese
  • 3 roasted garlic
  • 1 tsp blue cheese (We used Spanish valdeon)
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds

Mash the roasted garlic with a fork and then mix in the other ingredient. Heat the blend in a microwave oven for 15-20 seconds until it has just begun melting.

Pastrami Sandwich Recipe

  • 1 sesame bagel
  • 4 slices of pastrami
  • 6 pickled slices of cucumber
  • Blue Cheese Melt (from above)

Heat the bagel in a toaster oven, then spread 1/3 of the Blue Cheese Melt on the bread, and add the pastrami slices. Spread the remainder of the melt on top, and finish off with the pickles. Close the sandwich and enjoy while warm.

  1. Guys. This sandwich looks sensational and the pics are mouthwatering. I think our readers would love this and it would work great with the Valdeon that we sell. Could we feature this recipe in a guest post on our blog?

  2. Your guys’ recipes are absolutely incredible! One question though – in the ingredients, what do you mean when you say “3 roasted garlic”? Is that 3 cloves? Thanks!

  3. Hi Daniel,

Thanks a lot, and good question. 3 roasted garlics are indeed 3 roasted garlic cloves :-). They are super easy to make, and you can find the recipe here: Oven Roasted Garlic.

  4. I had the best pastrami and American cheese sandwich tonight. My secret is pickles and sour cream with about a tablespoon of salsa over top of the pastrami on sour dough rolls. I haven’t tried blue cheese or marscapone but will put it on my list for next grocery shopping day. Really enjoying your sandwich posts and psyched to try out some new sandwiches.
