Recipe Ingredients

As with everything else in cooking, it helps to start with the best ingredients. In fact, the simplier the recipe the greater the need to strive for the highest quality ingredients.  This simple cheese sandwhich can be made with your favourite everyday cheese. Dubliner cheese is one of ours and is a staple in the test kitchen.  This aged Irish cheddar has a mildly sweet taste combined with a sharpness that together reminds me of parmesan cheese.

  • 1 slice of sourdough bread
  • Dubliner cheese (thinly sliced but be generous in the serving size)
  • 2-3 cloves of roasted garlic
  • Duck fat/butter

Assembly

Lightly toast the bread. While still warm, apply a thin veneer of duck-fat/butter over the surface. The warmth from the bread will melt the fat causing it to infuse the bread with added depth of flavor.  Crush the roasted garlic and apply in similar format and then top with the cheese.  Eat while still warm.

  1. We are so glad you like Kerrygold Dubliner Cheese. I cannot wait to try this sandwich; it sounds delicious.
Here’s another sandwich idea you might like from Kerrygold. Make a grilled sandwich with prosciutto, tomato, arugula and Kerrygold Dubliner cheese. This is a twist on the traditional Irish Toastie. In Ireland, they call grilled sandwiches, Toasties.
